To address one of DILAN’s additional priorities, to develop the STEM/STEAM higher education, and particular women participation in STEM, our colleagues Carmen Perez-Llantada and Rosana Villares presented their study at the 47th International AEDEAN conference in Seville (Spain), which gathered over 400 participants.
In the current context of the democratisation of science, female scientists are increasingly engaging in digital forms of communication aimed at broad publics. In this presentation, our colleagues reported on findings of a survey of almost 900 EU female scientists.
The survey enquired into digital practices in sharing, communicating and disseminating research beyond the expert scientific community on the Internet and social media.
Some of the main trends reported refer to science communication practices as well as divergences across disciplines -for example health sciences vs social sciences- in terms of range of interactions, publication strategies, data sharing practices, and communication approaches.
