During May 20th and 21st, the Ibercivis team, partenr of DILAN, offered training aimed at doctoral students and research teaching staff at Jaume I University of Castellón.
Titled «Citizen Science: Introduction, Methods, and Applications to Academic Research,» attendees were able to introduce themselves to and strengthen their vision of citizen science in the academic environment, even designing their own project outlines. The work of DILAN in scientific communication was introduced as a powerful tool to expand the reach of science projects to non-expert audiences

The importance of effective communication that transcends the boundaries of academia and reaches the general public is one of the keys to the development of scientific projects and the careers of their researchers. This is why Ibercivis, with the collaboration of the DILAN consortium has developed an 8-hour training module that combines theory and practice and strengthens research staff’s general understanding of the tools that scientific communication and citizen science offers for a research career. Attendees of this training activity at UJI (Jaume I University of Castellón) attended several theoretical sessions that reviewed the fundamentals and importance of citizen science in scientific research, learned about successful cases and good practices in Spain and Europe, identified opportunities to integrate participatory approaches into their own academic projects, and explored practical tools, platforms, and methodologies for developing sicentific initiatives. Finally, they were able to apply the acquired knowledge in the design of specific projects.
In the module on effective scientific communication, the necessary tools for the development of a communication plan for scientific projects were presented, with emphasis on the training tools that DILAN makes available to the research community.
